Hello 2010! – “Do the Tao”

Chapter 10 of the Tao Te Ching

Can you coax your mind from its wandering
and keep to the original oneness?
Can you let your body become
supple as a newborn child’s?
Can you cleanse your inner vision
until you see nothing but the light?
Can you love people and lead them
without imposing your will?
Can you deal with the most vital matters
by letting events take their course?
Can you step back from you own mind
and thus understand all things?

Giving birth and nourishing,
having without possessing,
acting with no expectations,
leading and not trying to control:
this is the supreme virtue.

Good Bye 2009

A nice version of Auld Lang Syne to say good bye to 2009.  I usually avoid resolutions, but I did make a small list for the new year – nothing unreasonable and all completely achievable.  One of them is to journal daily.

Ever since I began blogging, personal journaling has been abandoned.  There are things I’d rather not put out there for all to see.  You all don’t need to be “keeping up with the Karners” as if our life were a reality show!  However, I used to find journaling a bit therapeutic.  It helped me sort things out, reflect on them, and just get things off my mind.  With my recent sleepless nights, this is a perfect time to begin.  So I created a journal on my laptop yesterday and slept through the night last night!

Happy New Year!
